My husband and I are looking to start a landscape buisness up in West Texas and this has been very helpful. We have just been very nervous because we know that owning a business can make you or break you. Any other tips that you may have please send them our way....the spread sheet was very helpful; there were things on there that I would never have thought to factor in. Hopefully, it will save us money when things get up and going. Thank You!

There was nothing fancy about the fuel cost estimations. That came from doing some large jobs which keep a crew going steady for hours and just figuring up how many gallons of fuel you used per piece of equipment and then dividing it by the number of hours it operated.

I'm sure that some ace mechanic could give you some calculation of the amount of fuel that a certain small engine uses during normal operation, but I just never felt that would work for me. For starters, those calculations are based on a new machine running in optimum conditions and that is no where close to the way our equipment is ran. The average trimmer probably has 400 hours on it, and the guy using it is running it like he stole it.

My husband and I run a small lawn care company with 2 other employees. Though the equipment and pay scales are different here, your spread sheet was able to point out some of our accounts that we deffinately were undercharging. Thanks again for all the free info on lawn care you offer with your site.
