Talking trash about fliers is ridiculous! Anyone who has done this before would know that the 2 percent of callbacks can result in so many other jobs. The first time I put them up, I got two great clients. Those clients through word of mouth yielded 6 more, which was all I was prepared to take on. Put those fliers up, it works!!!

I'm running one of the local/regional websites referred to above. It's a directory of lawn and landscape companies local to Cobb County GA (outside Atlanta). It just started this winter, and traffic levels are beginning to build as spring approaches. The site is at cobblawnandlandscape.com

Any feedback on the perceived utility of the site, or its attractiveness for advertising (assuming you were a local company) would be appreciated.

That will all depend on the website and what it is your advertising. If you are selling a product, or even a service that is not location restricted (ie: software support, help desk, etc.), then I believe it deffinately is worth investing some advertising dollars into.

On the otherhand, if you are running a local lawn care business and the website in question is one of the large national landscaping forums, or other large national website, then you would probably be throwing money away.

If your range of service is limited to lets say 40 miles, and you are advertising on a national website which has a user base of perhaps 1/10th of 1 percent local residents, then your return on investment is not going to be enough to justify the investment.

There are some local regional websites, such as local classifieds that can deffinately pay off. But these are dependent on your location and what is available in your area.
